Overview

About IASS
The International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS) was founded in 1959 by Eduardo Torroja and a group of other prominent pioneers in this field. The aim of the Association is to facilitate the interchange of ideas related to the design, analysis, construction and research on shell and spatial structures through the organization of annual symposia, publication of the IASS Journal, by sponsoring the activities of a number of Working Groups, and through collaboration with other professional and scientific societies.

About APCS
This is the 7th conference in the series of Asian Pacific Conference on Shell and Spatial Structures (APCS). The 1st APCS was initiated by Prof. Y. Hangai of Tokyo University and Prof. T. J. Kwun of Sungkyunkwan University and held in 1984 in Jeju, Korea. After that, the conference was held every three or four years, e.g., the 2nd conference was held in Tokyo, Japan in 1987, the 3rd in Daegu, Korea in 1990, the 4th in Tokyo, Japan in 1993 (also known as the SEIKEN-IASS Symposium), and the 5th in Beijing, China in 1996. The most recent (6th) APCS was organized again by Prof. Kwun in Seoul, Korea in 2000, dedicated to the late Prof. Hangai, who passed away in 1998.

Objectives
This Symposium seeks to provide a forum for presentation of new trends in research and development of shell and spatial structures. Researchers and engineers are invited to exchange their achievements and experience on topics ranging from the academic to the practicing aspects of the structures considered. Presentations of heuristic methods for theoretical or experimental investigations are especially welcome.
