A special issue of the international journal of Computer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering (published by Blackwell Publishers, www.blackwellpub.com ) will be published for the ICCCBE-IX conference. The authors of a selected number of innovative papers will be invited to submit substantially extended manuscripts for possible publication in the special issue of the journal.

Guidelines for Papers Submissions

Abstracts, technical sessions, tutorials, panels should be submitted at the due dates according to the following guidelines. Live GT demos are strongly encouraged. Computing and A/V facilities will be available. Please send your abstracts to Prof. L.J. Leu (Secretary) at ICCCBE@caece.net or icccbe@bsd.ce.ntu.edu.tw

Extended Abstract (1000 words)

Submit an abstract together with the following complete information:

  1. Title of Paper
  2. Author(s) Name, E-mail, Mailing address, Phone Number.
  3. Describe proposed topic in terms of CIT, A/E/C Disciplines, and Life-Cycle as discussed in Areas of Application.
  4. Extended Abstract (1000 words)

Full Paper

Submit a full paper by the Paper Guideline which can be downloaded in both WORD & PDF formats from the website.

Proposal for Technical Session

Submit a full package for each session. Each package should contain:

  1. Title of Session
  2. Session organizer
    ¡DName, E-mail, Mailing Address, Phone Number
    ¡DList of contributors
  3. Motivation and focus of session - position in the three dimensional space defined by CIT, A/E/C Disciplines, and Life-Cycle
  4. Abstracts contributed to the session (4-5). Each abstract should include:
    ¡DTitle
    ¡DAuthor(s) Name, E-mail, Mailing Address
    ¡DDescribe proposed topic in terms of CIT, A/E/C Disciplines, and Life-Cycle as discussed in Areas of Application.
    ¡DExtended Abstract (1000 words).

Tutorials

Submit a full package for each tutorial. Tutorials should be an hour to an hour and a half long sessions. The format of tutorials can be presentation, demo, or hands-on sessions. The package should contain:

  1. Title of Tutorial - indicate if it is presentation, demo, or hands-on. There will be facilities (computer cluster) available for computer hands-on sessions.
  2. Tutorial organizer Name, E-mail, Mailing Address, Phone Number.
  3. Motivation and focus of tutorial - Describe proposed topic in terms of CIT, A/E/C Disciplines, and Life-Cycle as discussed in Areas of Application.
  4. Extended Abstract (1000 words).

Panels

Submit a full package for each panel. The package should contain:

  1. Title of Panel
  2. Panel organizer/moderator Name, E-mail, Mailing Address, Phone Number.
  3. Motivation and focus of tutorial - Describe proposed topic in terms of CIT, A/E/C Disciplines, and Life-Cycle as discussed in Areas of Application.
  4. Identify the panel participants who confirmed their attendance by May 1, 1999.

Student Poster/Demo
Computing in Action - Student Competition

Application for the competition is accepted by Email ONLY and should be made by Students ONLY.

Today's dynamic and challenging world of Civil Engineering is offering students an opportunity to explore and propose new solutions. The objectives of the "Computing in Action" competition are to

  • Engage engineering undergraduate and graduate students in presenting creative research and development of computer tools that address industry needs.
  • Increase the number of students who participate at international events and foster exchange of innovative ideas and exciting experiences.

The competition aims to encourage students to present the result of their independent study in a poster and demonstration session.

Submit an abstract together with the following complete information:

  1. Title of Paper
  2. Author(s) Name, Email, Mailing Address
  3. Indicate which aspect is addressed by the study in each of the three dimensions CIT, A/E/C Disciplines, and Life-Cycle (e.g., GIS, transportation, maintenance)
  4. Abstract (150 words).

A board of judges composed of faculty and industry will evaluate submissions and presentations. The evaluation criteria are:

  1. Intellectual Challenge
  2. Societal and A/E/C Relevance
  3. Applicability and Financial Reward in Case of Productization

Students are to present their entry at the ICCCBE-IX.
